BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY

1

Internship programs (2)

 

College students interested in radio careers are given the opportunity to work at the stations to gain on-the-job-training in the area of their degrees while also earning academic credit.

In the Summer of 2008, Clear Channel Houston employed a total of nine interns.  We hosted two interns from University of Houston in the programming department; three interns from Sam Houston State University, one in the production department, one in the sales department, and one in programming department; one intern from Texas A&M University in the sales department; one intern from Hendrix University in the programming/news department; one intern from Louisiana State University in the sales department; and one intern from Emerson College in the programming department. 

In the Fall of 2008, Clear Channel Houston employed a total of five interns.  We hosted one intern from Houston Community College in the programming department; two interns from the University of Houston in the programming/news department; one intern from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in the programming department; and one intern from Sam Houston State University in the sales department.

Participate in fob fair

On April 17, 2008, Clear Channel Houston participated in a career fair hosted by Texas A&M University’s Department of Communications.  We hosted a booth at the fair and spoke to students about jobs in radio and at Clear Channel specifically.  Station participants included our Recruitment Manager.

On April 23, 2008, Clear Channel Houston participated in the Sam Houston College Career Fair. We spoke to attendees about jobs in radio and at Clear Channel specifically, and recruited for the position of Account Executive.  Station participants included our Recruitment Manager.

List upper-level openings in job banks of media trade groups whose membership includes substantial participation of women and minorities

All professional positions, including upper-level openings, are posted in the job banks of American Women in Radio & Television and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, whose membership includes substantial numbers of women and minorities.

Participate in other activities designed by the SEU to further the goal of disseminating information about employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities

Clear Channel Houston posted a bulletin in the Second Quarter 2008 edition of the Equal Employment & Civil Rights Journal, which included an equal opportunity employer statement along with an affirmation of Clear Channel’s commitment to minority outreach.
